The hard work and determination of the legal force that is de Broglio Inc paid off in the South Gauteng High Court when a settlement of R1, 500, 000.00 was awarded to their client, a pedestrian, who had been struck by a motor vehicle while standing on the side of the road trying to push start a vehicle.
24 year old Jacob Bhekezi* was en route to work when the collision happened. He immediately lost consciousness and only woke up again 2 weeks later while he was lying in hospital. He stayed in hospital for six months and used crutches for many months afterwards.
He had sustained severe fractures to both his legs and the bones had not healed properly to the point where even 6 months after the accident they were still in casts and he was still wheel chair bound. He also suffered facial bone fractures and a fractured base of skull. Further he fractured two of his vertebrae and had rib fractures.
Jacob was terribly injured. He still suffers daily pain and discomfort as a result of his injuries.
To make matters worse, Jacob was not paid for the 16 months he was off from work recuperating and once he back at work he was informed that he would have other duties and his salary then decreased by almost 50%.
