de Broglio Inc, leading specialist attorneys in Road Accident Fund claims, secured a successful settlement of R300, 181.00 for one of their clients who fractured his left arm as a passenger in a motor vehicle accident. An outstanding result considering the fact that the injuries suffered were not as serious as many others.
George Mabunda* did not know when he contacted de Broglio Inc about his injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident, that he was going to be their next satisfied client. He was very happy with how his RAF claim was handled by the expert law firm and with the award he received upon settlement of his claim.
George had been travelling as a passenger in a motor vehicle when a vehicle coming from the opposite direction lost control and drove into his lane of travel colliding head on with the vehicle he was travelling in. as a passenger, there was nothing he could do to avoid the accident and unfortunately became a victim who suffered damages as a result of something he had no control over.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he was admitted and treated for his injuries which included his left arm fracture, and lacerations below his right eye. To date he still experiences problems with his right eye and pain in his left arm because of the accident.
The Industrial Psychologist on his matter reported that “it is clear that the accident will continue to result in reduced productivity..” so even though George’s injuries may not be considered as serious as other injuries, because of the physical nature of his work, his injury had a major impact on his earning capacity which de Broglio and the various experts that they employed to assist in George’s case, took into consideration when settling the matter with the RAF’s attorneys. Every facet of George’s life and how the accident had affected him, was investigated and substantiated by the legal and medico-legal team who were representing him.
The matter was settled on 10 February 2014 at the North Gauteng High Court in the amount of R300, 181.00 and an undertaking for future medical expenses was awarded.
