Client over the moon with whiplash settlement

Whiplash is one of the most common injuries arising from car accidents, and de Broglio Inc has chalked up yet another satisfied client who has walked away with a handsome R250 000 settlement for whiplash from the Road Accident Fund (RAF).

Charmaine Mitchell*, a 36-year-old from Johannesburg, was involved in an accident in 2006 when her car was rear-ended in Parkhurst. So severe was the whiplash that she sustained in the collision that she had to give up her job in Pretoria, as she was unable to sit in the car for lengthy periods. She complained of persistent lower back pain, headaches and migraines.

In addition to her pain and discomfort, Charmaine suffered loss of earnings but is fortunately now employed once again. She is thrilled with the R250 000 settlement that her attorneys at de Broglio obtained for her from the RAF.

“De Broglio delivers brilliant service, and I received constant feedback from them every step of the way,” she said. “I also felt very comfortable with them in court.”

She has encountered other car accident victims whose lawyers have been sitting on their cases for four or five years, and who are frustrated with the delays and stop-start processes involved in taking a third-party claim to the RAF. “But that’s not how Michael [de Broglio] and his team work – I’m already referring people to them. I’m definitely very happy with their service.”

De Broglio’s Anna Kordas, who handled Charmaine’s case, commented: “Working hand in hand with a client who appreciated the necessity of following our advice on attending all medico-legal appointments scheduled for her, together with providing us with all the requested information, a phenomenal settlement result was obtained on what might initially have been classed as a minor whiplash matter.”

Added Michael de Broglio: “This case goes to show how a seemingly simple injury like whiplash, although not life-threatening, can have long-term repercussions and can still result in a great offer.”
