(We) had his trial on Thursday for loss of income and past medical expenses. Nikita decided to not apply for the last medical expenses that day as RAF were protesting so she's working on it now. When the team came to us explaining the settlement offer I couldn't grasp the number. Thought I heard wrong! R7.4 mil for loss of income. We are still in shock. So with the damages its R8.1 mil. As I said to the Curator I distinctly recall my first letter to David requesting your services.
It has really taught us about the 'long view' approach. We have suffered financially, during the past 2 years especially… These may seem like minor things but to us they are the essence of the victory. The world now has a different outlook of possibilities. The first action we have done is to make enquiries about behavioural therapy.
Of course it will take months for the payment to be made, especially at that figure, but the hardship we are experiencing will be more bearable.
I have thanked you before, but this, is so unbelievable. Although no amount of money will replace my son's huge loss, at least his life can be made safe and comfortable, and allow him to be at his best potential. You are more than just a law firm, you have held us safe and kept us going… If there was an SA award for service to humanity, I wish you and your firm's compassion could be recognized.
